What is it About?

The magnitude of positive climate and energy access impact potential carried by early-stage commercialized innovations is the focus of the Climate Solver programme. WWF sees an urgent need to significantly increase public and private support towards commercialization of innovative goods and services that can create revenue by upscaling to satisfy planetary needs in a sustainable 100% renewable future with energy access to all. The bi-annual Living Planet Report informs us all of the urgency of the planetary situation. The Climate Solver platform is used to highlight cleantech innovation heroes of our time that are already commercializing such products and services that fit into a circular, more sustainable economy. The platform aims to generate stakeholder wide awareness around technologies and business models that are already here to tackle our challenges whilst policy makers, investors and larger corporates have a joint responsibility as well as opportunity to be part of mainstreaming these on global markets. Climate Solver was launched in Sweden in 2008. It has now expanded to include China, India, South Africa and the rest of the Nordic countries. And we are starting up work in Australia. The Global Cleantech Innovation Index shows clearly that all Nordic countries are strong ‘start-up generators’ on cleantech innovation relative to their small GDP. So through collaboration with Cleantech Scandinavia, WWF offers Nordic Cleantech Open applicants the opportunity to become WWF Climate Solver entrepreneurs 2018. The Nordic start-up honorees for 2018 that currently are carrying largest positive climate and energy access impact potential will be presented 22-24 May 2018 in Malmö as Energy Ministers from around the world are gathering for the 3rd Mission Innovation meeting.
